NOTICE TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF BLYTHE, COUNTY OF RICHMOND, STATE OF GEORGIA
Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-540 you are hereby notified that there will be a special election held by the Richmond County Board of Elections for the City of Blythe, GA on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 for the purpose of filling the remaining portion of the unexpired term for the office ofCouncilmember of the Blythe City Council vacated by the resignation of Judy A. Cordova.Qualifying will be conducted in the City Clerks Office, 294 Church Street, Blythe, Georgia, beginning on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, and ending on Friday December 8, 2023. Hours to qualify for said office shall be from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, and from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023, and from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, excluding the hour from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m.A qualifying fee of $27.00, as prescribed by law, will be required upon qualifying for the Office of Councilmember.Only those persons who have filed their Notice of Candidacy and have paid the prescribed qualifying fee as stated above shall be eligible to have their names placed on the ballot.Said election will be for the remainder of said unexpired term for Councilmember, which will expire on December 31, 2025.A run-off, if necessary, will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.
Anyone desiring to vote in this election and who is not a qualified voter must register to vote no later than Monday, February 12, 2024, at any of the approved voter registration sites in order to be eligible to vote.Inquiries regarding voter registration may be directed to the Board of Elections Office, 535 Telfair Street, Suite 500 Municipal Building, Augusta, Georgia, 30901 or by calling (706) 821-2340 or (706) 592-6255.
The polling places for holding this special election shall be the regular and established polling locations for the City of Blythe, GA, and the polls shall be open from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM.
